Toni’s Pizza Sauce Seasoning

For over 60 years, Toni has been making pizzas and hand-making her zesty pizza sauce seasoning recipe. Over the years, the recipe has evolved into an absolutely delicious blend of herbs & spices. In recent years, Toni put her sauce seasoning into small packets which were given to neighbors and family members as a gift at Christmas time. This is what inspired Toni to have her sauce seasoning packaged so she could share it with everyone to enjoy.

MENTION: Toni and her husband founded Round Table Pizza Restaurants in 1959.

Toni now has her Pizza Sauce Seasoning available in 3 ounce bottles. Her recipe is for two 12 inch pizzas. The bottle has enough Sauce Seasoning for a total of ten 12 inch pizzas all painted with heavy sauce - up to 20 pizzas with normal sauce

NOTE: One or more bottles shipped to Amazon have a "Best By" date that was only partially printed onto the label. Lot number BOW4787 has one or more bottles that shows a "Best By" date of 04/19/20. The "Best By" date is actually 04/19/2026. The "26" Was printed off the label and onto the glass. I have heard of only one instance where this has happened but in case anyone else sees this then you can rest assured the "Best By" date is not the year "20", but is actually 2026. Toni

The following Sauce Recipe is for two 12 inch pizzas with Heavy Sauce.

  • 1) In a medium bowl, mix together 3 level tablespoons of Toni's seasoning
with 1 and 1/2 cups of cold water.

  • 2) Add a 12 ounce can of Tomato Paste & slowly whisk together with above Seasoning mixture until sauce is Brownish-Red and even in color.

  • 3) Cover and refrigerate overnight, a minimum of 8 hours which is necessary to insure the herbs & spices fuse together with the Tomato Paste.

  • If you wish, you can cut this recipe in half by using 1 & 1/2 level tablespoons of seasoning mixed with a 3/4 cup of cold water. Then adding a 6 ounce can of Tomato Paste. Either way, you can always freeze any left-over sauce up to a couple of months.

  • 2) Apply a generous portion of Pizza Sauce evenly over both halves of the roll.

  • 3) Apply Mozzarella, then a sprinkling of Sharp Cheddar to both halves of the roll.

  • 4) Apply your choice of toppings. Normally, it’s best to apply toppings without stacking.

  • 5) Bake at 450F for approximately 10 minutes or until cheese is melted and
    the toppings are cooked.
